You can always count on Queen Máxima of the Netherlands to bring interesting jewelry with her on visits to museum exhibitions, and her stop at the National Museum of Antiquities on Tuesday was no exception to the rule.

Queen Máxima was in attendance on Tuesday at the official opening of the museum’s newest exhibition, “Above Ground.” The museum’s website explains that the exhibition showcases “the most remarkable and high-profile discoveries in [the last] 25 years of Dutch archaeology,” with “more than five hundred objects, originating from around two hundred sites” on display. Finds from every Dutch province are included, as are archaeological objects discovered in the Dutch Caribbean islands.

For the opening of the exhibition, Máxima wore a bright, colorful ensemble. Her olive-gold blouse comes from Natan—we saw her pair it with gray trousers a few months ago. This time around, she wore the top, plus a matching hat and shoes, with a festive striped ribbon skirt. UFO No More reminds us that the skirt, which has been in Máxima’s wardrobe for several years, comes from the designer Lena Hoschek.

Máxima also added numerous pieces of jewelry to her ensemble, including jewels that echo both the golden and multicolored themes of her outfit.

Her earrings are large gold pieces made in a half-discus-shaped design. Over at ModeKoninginMaxima, Josine Droogendijk tells us that the earrings are a new pair and speculates that they may have been acquired during a recent trip to Greece. To me, they look like a deliberate echo of jewelry worn in the ancient world—a neat reference to the theme of the exhibition.

As she usually does, Máxima also wore bracelets on each wrist and rings on both hands. Here’s a good look at some of her bracelets, including a diamond-set bracelet with a repeated square design, the gold bracelet with cabochon gems that is engraved with the names of her husband and children, a translucent white bangle, and a gold chain with small charms.

On her left hand, Máxima wore her engagement ring, which is set with a rare orange diamond, and her wedding band. The modern ring that she wore on her right hand is set with a pale green cabochon stone—perhaps a peridot or chalcedony?
