On Thursday, the Prince and Princess of Wales made their return to royal duties after their summer holidays, with Catherine wearing a favorite pair of earrings for a visit to the Natural History Museum in London.

Prince William and Princess Catherine headed to the Natural History Museum in London on Thursday to visit the institution’s newly renovated gardens. They dodged raindrops as they met with children and young people who are participating in learning programs linked to nature and biodiversity.

For the visit, the Princess wore a smart casual outfit—blazer, shirt, trousers, loafers—suitable for touring the outdoor venue. (She also ducked under an umbrella during the rainy parts of the event.)

With the tweed blazer, she brought out a pair of earrings from one of her favorite designers, Kiki McDonough: the Pear Drop Earrings from the Kiki Classics collection. Kate owns three pairs of these earrings, set with citrines, green amethysts, and blue topazes. The lighting from the visit makes it difficult to decide precisely which pair she wore, but I think these are the green amethysts. (Others have argued, for what it’s worth, that they’re the blue topaz pair. Let me know your thoughts below.)

Let’s take a closer look at both pairs, which are each recent additions to Kate’s jewelry box. Here’s a good view of the green amethyst pear drop earrings from the Kiki McDonough website. The gemstones live in a yellow gold setting, and the earrings retail for £850.

The green amethyst earrings have been in Catherine’s jewelry collection since 2023, but her most memorable outing in them came a year later, when she wore them in a video message announcing that she had completed cancer treatment in September 2024. An image from the same day was used as the family’s Christmas card in 2024 as well.

And here, again via the Kiki McDonough website, is a look at the blue topaz version of the earrings. These are also made of yellow gold, and they also retail for £850.

The blue topaz pear drop earrings are a newer addition to Kate’s collection. We first saw her wear the earrings a few months ago, during the couple’s visit to the Isle of Mull in April 2025.

With the earrings, whichever pair they may be, Catherine wore two necklaces. One is a Daniella Draper Alphabet Necklace featuring the initials G, C, and L (for George, Charlotte, and Louis). The other, I believe, is also a Daniella Draper piece: the Midnight Moon Necklace, which is also engraved with the initials of the Wales children.

Princess Catherine finished off her jewelry look for the visit with a stack of rings on her left hand, including her famous sapphire and diamond cluster engagement ring. In recent months, Kate has sometimes worn the ring for public events and sometimes left it back at home.

For the Natural History Museum visit, she wore the engagement ring in a stack with her diamond and sapphire eternity band, her diamond eternity band, and her Welsh gold wedding ring.
