On Tuesday, the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay—as the Prince and Princess of Wales are known in Scotland—made a visit to the Isle of Mull, and Catherine wore a new pair of earrings from one of her favorite jewelry designers.

Prince William and Princess Catherine headed to the Inner Hebrides on the west coast of Scotland on Tuesday for a visit to the Isle of Mull. There, they wore casual ensembles—lots of blues, browns, suede, and tweed—for a visit to the island’s capital, Tobermory, where they greeted local residents, toured a community center, and visited an artisan market and a local croft.

With her smart casual outfit, Catherine kept her jewelry on the simple side, wearing small earrings, a pair of necklaces, and a stack of rings.

Kate debuted a new pair of earrings from one of her favorite jewelry designers, Kiki McDonough, during the island visit on Tuesday. Made of 18-carat yellow gold, these are set with bright blue topazes. Each pear-shaped topaz measures around five carats.

Here’s a product photograph of the earrings from the company’s website, where they retail for £850. The brand notes that the earrings are “extremely wearable” pieces from their Kiki Classics collection.

Kate definitely finds the style very wearable, because this is at least the third pair of the Kiki pear drop earrings in her collection. She’s had a pair set with citrines for more than a decade, and in recent years she also added the green amethyst pair to her jewelry box. She memorably wore the green amethyst version in the family video released to mark the end of her cancer treatment in 2024.

Catherine also wore a pair of sentimental necklaces that reference her three children. One of them is the Midnight Moon Necklace from the British jewelry designer Daniella Draper, which features a trio of teeny diamond stars and is engraved with the initials of William and Kate’s three children. George, Charlotte, and Louis’s initials are also suspended as individual charms from the second gold necklace.

Kate sometimes leaves her iconic sapphire and diamond cluster engagement ring at home these days, but for big engagements and visits, it’s usually in its normal place on her left hand. On Tuesday, it was there, stacked with her wedding and eternity bands.

It was the right day to wear all of the rings: Tuesday was William and Kate’s 14th wedding anniversary. People have speculated for years that Kate’s growing collection of Kiki McDonough jewelry was filled with pieces gifted by her husband, and these earrings appeared at just the right moment to be, perhaps, a wedding anniversary present.

As a thank you to the residents who welcomed the royal couple to the island, Kensington Palace released this portrait of William and Catherine sharing a private moment together during the visit. Scotland, of course, holds special meaning for the couple, who met there while attending the University of St. Andrews more than two decades ago.
