The Swedish royals gathered in Stockholm on Tuesday for the Polar Music Prize ceremony, an event that often brings us inventive, modern jewelry moments.

King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden were joined by Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Prince Carl Philip, and Tord Magnuson for the presentation of the Polar Music Prize. This year, the award was bestowed on four artists: the jazz musician Herbie Hancock, guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor of the band Queen, and the soprano and conductor Barbara Hannigan.

For the black-tie ceremony, the King and the Princes were dapper in tuxedos, while the ladies wore evening gowns and jewels (but no tiaras). Queen Silvia, who is still recovering from foot surgery, wore a silvery-blue column gown with a gray pashmina wrap for the occasion.

Her jewelry accessories included a pair of earrings featuring pearl and diamond cluster studs and pearl drops, as well as a classic diamond rivière necklace.

Crown Princess Victoria, posing here alongside her brother and her husband, likes to make bold statements with her attire and accessories for this annual event, and this year was no different.

Victoria wore a black blouse with an off-the-shoulder neckline from her wardrobe archive, paired with a dramatic black ruffled tulle skirt. UFO No More tells us that the skirt comes from the designer Selam Fessahaye.

Victoria added even more drama with her choice of necklace and earrings for the ceremony. She wore a statment necklace from the jewelry designer Maria Nilsdotter’s “What the Wood Whispers” collection, along with the matching chandelier earrings from the same line. The pieces are made of silver and set with clear quartz and glass pearls. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Victoria wear jewels from Nilsdotter’s brand. She owns numerous jewels from the designer, including the whimsical Nocturnal Creatures headpiece.
