On Thursday, the Princess of Wales made a surprise visit to Leicester, wearing golden earrings and a pair of gorgeous floral garlands to celebrate the city’s British Indian community.

Princess Catherine arrived in Leicester on Thursday for a series of engagements designed to celebrate the culture, community, and heritage of the city’s British Indian community. She visited several businesses and organizations located on Leicester’s “Golden Mile,” which is noted for its concentration of Indian shops and restaurants.

Catherine stopped in to visit several different organizations, including the Belgrave Neighbourhood Centre, the family-run Bobby’s restaurant, and Ladlees, a family-run sari shop. She also participated in a dance class at the Shreeji Dham Haveli Hindu Temple.

Kate dressed in a cream coat and matching dress for the occasion, paired with neutral accessories. The clothes provided an elegant backdrop for the pair of garlands she received during the visit.

She received this garland of pearls and roses at the Belgrave Neighbourhood Centre, where she visited with choreographer and dancer Aakash Odedra and watched a performance by his dance company.

Later, Catherine received this garland of flowers and golden beads during her visit to the Shreeji Dham Haveli Hindu Temple.

Kate also wore a favorite pair of earrings, the Dina style from Sézane. On her left hand, she wore the stack of rings that has become standard for public engagements: her sapphire and diamond engagement ring, her Welsh gold wedding band, her diamond eternity ring, and another eternity ring with alternating diamonds and sapphires.

And now, for something completely different: a preview of what’s coming tomorrow for paid subscribers over on Substack! I’m working through a year-long series of articles at Hidden Gems that chronicle important days in the life of the late Queen Elizabeth II. Tomorrow morning, I’ll be sharing a deep dive on a day seared into the memory of an entire generation in Britain and abroad: V-E Day, when the fighting in the European theater of World War II officially ceased. See you there!
