Last week, the British royals gathered at Windsor Castle for a very special film premiere, with three royal ladies wearing intriguing embroidered brooches that neatly fit the evening’s theme.

King Charles III and Queen Camilla hosted the premiere of the new documentary Finding Harmony: A King’s Vision in the Waterloo Chamber at Windsor Castle on January 28. Guests encountered a unique step-and-repeat inside St. George’s Hall when they arrived at the castle for the premiere.
Buckingham Palace explains, “Finding Harmony charts how The King’s Foundation, headquartered at its flagship regeneration project Dumfries House in Ayrshire, Scotland, has sparked a global ‘Harmony’ movement. From sustainable textiles and food production, to urbanism, community regeneration and traditional skills, the film documents how the model of sustainable community regeneration at Dumfries House, pioneered by The King’s Foundation, has inspired similar projects around the world. Filming for the documentary started in early 2025 at Dumfries House, and throughout the year took place over four continents, highlighting Harmony projects taking place across the globe.”
The documentary, which is narrated by the Oscar-winning actress Kate Winslet, is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video beginning today, February 6.

For the documentary screening, King Charles wore an evening jacket inspired by the traditional Windsor Uniform. Queen Camilla, meanwhile, wore a favorite dark green velvet evening ensemble from one of her favorite designers, Anna Valentine. The outfit has been in her closet since 2023—very appropriate for an occasion that encourages re-wearing.

She accessorized with a favorite pair of turuqoise and diamond earrings, which have also been in her personal jewelry collection for many years.

Here, in a photograph taken almost thirty years ago, Camilla wears the turquoise earrings for Charles’s 50th birthday party at Highgrove in November 1998. On that occasion, she paired the earrings with a diamond and turquoise necklace that has also been in her collection for decades.

One of Camilla’s most recent memorable appearances in the earrings came in the autumn of 2023, when she wore them for a stop in Bordeaux during the royal couple’s state visit to France.

Perhaps even more eye-catching, though, was the embroidered blue and gold brooch that Camilla pinned to her velvet evening coat for the premiere. The special piece, which features Camilla’s royal cypher, was made for her by a pair of graduates of the Chanel and King’s Foundation’s Métiers d’Art Embroidery Fellowship.

Queen Camilla’s brooch was made by Eliza Gomersall and Durga Shanthakumar, Embroidery Graduates 2022-23. Above, Gomersall shows the brooch on her Instagram account.

Two more royal ladies also attended the premiere in embroidered brooches made by King’s Foundation graduates. Here’s the Duchess of Edinburgh, who pinned a brooch made by Katie Dickson, Embroidery Graduate 2024-25, to a favorite silk dress from Galvan.

And here’s the Duchess of Gloucester, who attended the premiere with her Duke. She wore an embroidered bow brooch made by Tamsin Lines, Embroidery Graduate 2024-25. The brooch was paired with a gold, diamond, and sapphire necklace and matching earrings from her personal jewelry collection.

Here’s a closer look at Birgitte’s brooch from Tamsin J. Lines’s Instagram account. She wrote, “Delighted to see Her Royal Highness wear it to the Finding Harmony Royal Premiere at Windsor Castle last night!”

A quick reminder before I go! Tomorrow, paid subscribers at Hidden Gems will have access to the second installment in my year-long series on important days in the life of Queen Elizabeth II. The first article in the series covered the day of her birth in 1926, and for this second article, we move forward ten years to the day she became heiress presumptive in 1936. See you there!
