While William and Catherine were at Lambeth Palace, King Charles III and Queen Camilla headed to Dedham for a royal visit on Thursday, with Camilla wearing a fascinating gold bow brooch.

On Thursday, Charles and Camilla headed to Essex for a visit to the village of Dedham. There, they met with locals making a difference, including representatives from Next Chapter, a domestic abuse charity, and members of the Dedham Art Society, which supports East Anglia Children’s Hospice and the local Munnings Museum. They stopped by the Sun Inn gastro-pub, where Queen Camilla pitched in to help make ravioli, and cut a cake at the Essex Rose Tea House.

Queen Camilla wore a favorite blue ensemble for the visit, plus fur-trimmed gloves and an iconic clear royal umbrella to weather the chilly, rainy day.

She coordinated the blue color of her coat with the pendants on this fabulous brooch: a bow in a shade of burnished gold with blue pendant drops. Each pendant features a gold initial: a script E on one, and a capital E on the other. Both pendants are also surmounted by small crowns.

Camilla has been wearing the brooch for more than twenty years. Her first appearance in the jewel came at the Bhavan Centre in London in April 2005, just weeks after she became Duchess of Cornwall. During this period, Camilla debuted a whole lot of jewelry from the collection of the late Queen Mother, and there’s been speculation that the Es on this brooch may be a reference to her name.

Here’s one more look at the brooch on Camilla’s coat during last week’s royal visit to Dedham. What do you think: is this a Queen Mother piece, or something else?
