On Friday, Queen Letizia of Spain attended the opening of the Madrid Book Fair, wearing a summery dress and pearls for the occasion.

The Madrid Book Fair, begun in 1933 and now held annually in Retiro Park, is one of the biggest traditional cultural events in the Spanish capital. Books from Spanish-speaking authors are highlighted, but the event also features texts from a guest country or city. This year, the fair is partnering with several New York universities to spotlight works from Latin-American authors, including books written in Spanish and those translated into the language.

Queen Letizia officially opened this year’s book fair on Friday. She toured the extensive event, visiting various exhibitors and speaking with authors and publishing representatives. She also had the chance to visit the Children’s Pavilion, where she joined in a story-printing workshop.

For her visit to the fair, Letizia wore a summery dress with a black-and-white floral print. (UFO No More tells us that it comes from Hugo Boss.) She accessorized with a pair of earrings that continued the casual, breezy theme of the outfit: diamond and baroque pearl drop earrings.

Letizia is a big fan of baroque pearls, which have distinctive irregular shapes. She owns several pairs of earrings with baroque pearl drops. This pair, which she’s had in her jewelry box for a decade, comes from the brand Tous. They feature cultured freshwater pearls suspended from white gold and diamond clasps.

Queen Letizia also added one more final jewelry touch to the outfit. On the index finger of her left hand, she wore her yellow gold “Amor che tutto move” ring from the brand Coreterno. Appropriately for a literary event, the ring is engraved with the final line of Dante’s Divine Comedy. Letizia has been wearing the ring regularly for two years, and many have guessed that, given its romantic text, it may have been a gift from her husband, King Felipe VI.
