Queen Máxima offered us a second gala jewelry look during last week’s Italian state visit, mixing a classic suite of jewels with Italian couture.

Ahead of next week’s South African state visit to the United Kingdom, we’re devoting this week’s Sparkling Spotlight series to some of the glittering jewels that Queen Elizabeth II wore for South African state banquets in the later years of her reign. We begin with a set of gorgeous emeralds worn for Nelson Mandela’s 1996 state visit to Britain.

The Windsors paid tribute to the fallen members of the nation’s armed forces at the Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday, and there were plenty of event-appropriate jewels on display—including a new brooch worn by the Princess of Wales.

On Saturday evening, the British royals gathered in London for the annual Festival of Remembrance, wearing their best diamonds, pearls, and rubies.
