Our celebration of the 85th anniversary of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth’s coronation continues this afternoon with a look at the history of one of the most sparkling jewels commissioned for the ceremony: Queen Elizabeth’s Coronation Necklace.
Today marks the 85th anniversary of one of the most important moments of the Queen’s life: the coronation of her parents, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. The ceremony cemented her place as Britain’s future monarch. The 11-year-old princess and her 6-year-old younger sister both attended the coronation, and over the years, I’ve gotten lots of questions about the small crowns they wore for the occasion.
After the State Opening of Parliament on Tuesday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge traveled to Manchester to take part in a very important memorial dedication.
This morning, a State Opening of Parliament took place in London that was unlike any other we’ve seen in decades, as the Prince of Wales was deputized to read the Queen’s Speech from the throne.
The Queen Mother loved elaborate brooches with pendants, and her collection included a particularly lovely example of the design style, set with diamonds and sapphires.
