The third in the trio of European state visits this week took place in Stockholm, where the Swedish royal family hosted a grand state banquet for the President of Singapore on Monday evening.

King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden welcomed their guests, President Tharman Shanmugaratnam of Singapore and his wife, Jane Yumiko Ittogi, to the Royal Palace in Stockholm for a state banquet on Monday. Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Princess Madeleine, and Christopher O’Neill were also present for the event. (Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia had a conflicting engagement, the Marcus Wallenberg Prize dinner.)

For the banquet, Queen Silvia shimmered in a lavender pink ensemble from one of her favorite brands, Georg et Arend, the brainchild of the brothers Georg and Arend Zizelmann. UFO No More tells us that the gown is actually separates: an embellished top over a strapless dress. The pale blue sash of the Order of the Seraphim and the matching ribbon of the King’s Royal Family Order contrasted nicely with the color of the outfit.

Silvia wore a mix of jewelry pieces from the family vaults with the dress. Her tiara, the Connaught Diamond Tiara, belonged to the King’s grandmother, Crown Princess Margareta. The jewel was a wedding gift from her parents, the Duke and Duchess of Connaught, in 1905. The tiara later became a favorite of the King’s mother, Princess Sibylla.
The earrings and brooch that Silvia paired with the tiara have an even longer royal history. The diamond and pink topaz jewels were brought to Sweden by the King’s great-grandmother, Queen Victoria of Sweden. They originally belonged to Victoria’s own great-grandmother, Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna, a daughter of Tsar Paul I of Russia.

Queen Silvia finished the look with bracelets on each wrist. On her right wrist, she stacked a Cartier Love Bracelet with the diamond zig-zag bracelet from the family vaults. The bracelet came from the collection of Queen Victoria of Sweden’s mother, Grand Duchess Louise of Baden. She sometimes wore it as part of a choker necklace.

Crown Princess Victoria wore a dramatic gown for the banquet: a white sequined lace dress from H&M. She also wore the sash and star of the Order of the Seraphim and her father’s Royal Family Order with the gown.

Victoria’s tiara also comes from Crown Princess Margareta’s wedding gift haul. The diamond laurel wreath tiara, made by Boucheron, was her wedding present from her new husband’s grandmother, Queen Sofia of Sweden. The tiara was later inherited by Prince Bertil and Princess Lilian, who bequeathed it personally to Victoria in 2013.
Paired with the tiara were the gorgeous diamond floral earrings from the Bernadotte jewel collection and a lovely diamond and white opal brooch, which was worn often by Victoria’s late grandmother, Princess Sibylla.

Completing the Connaught tiara trio was Princess Madeleine, who wore a glamorous red evening gown with her own Modern Fringe Tiara and the necklace setting of the King Edward VII Ruby Tiara. As the name suggests, the convertible ruby and diamond jewel was a wedding gift to Margareta from her uncle and aunt, King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra of the United Kingdom.

Madeleine paired the tiara and necklace with diamond earrings that belonged to the Brazilian branch of the Leuchtenberg family and the Bernadotte ruby and diamond brooch. But, intriguingly, Madeleine took off the necklace after her arrival at the banquet table. Something clearly wasn’t quite right. Perhaps the necklace, which dipped slightly beneath her neckline, was bothering her, or maybe there was a malfunction with its clasp?
