Let’s kick off the week with another royal pearl moment, featuring a playful pair of summer earrings worn by the Queen of the Netherlands.

On May 25, Queen Máxima of the Netherlands headed out for a pair of engagements dressed in sunny, summery yellow. She made a working visit to Amsterdam UMC to learn about the hospital’s Care Evaluation and Appropriate Use program, which follows the “Less is More” initiative in medical specialist care.

She also headed to Leiden for a visit to the Royal Institute of Language, Land, and Ethnology. Máxima is the institute’s patron, and during the visit she learned about projects with a focus on colonial history and its impact on the present in the Caribbean, Southeast Asia, and “international Netherlands.”

For both visits, Máxima wore a canary yellow blouse and trousers from her go-to designer, Natan. She also carried a matching purse and wore matching shoes.

The yellow theme continued through to her jewelry. She wore a pair of earrings from her jewelry box that are set with citrines carved to resemble pineapples. These are set alongside white pearls, white diamonds, and additional citrine stones. To my knowledge, we haven’t officially learned the provenance of these earrings, though they are similar to another pair in her jewelry box that come from Scully & Scully.

Máxima also wore her gold and cabochon gemstone bracelet, which is engraved with the names of her husband and daughters, her engagement and wedding rings, and the diamond ring she received from Willem-Alexander to celebrate Princess Ariane’s birth in 2007.

This wasn’t Máxima’s first outing in this yellow ensemble. We saw her wear the blouse and trousers in Indonesia last autumn. On that occasion, she wore bright beaded yellow hoop earrings. Which pair do you like best with the outfit?
