Today in America, I’m celebrating Thanksgiving with my family—and I am beyond thankful for the bright, bold appearance Queen Máxima made in yellow on Tuesday!

Queen Máxima arrived in the Republic of Indonesia for a special visit earlier this week. The Netherlands and Indonesia have a long, complicated shared history of colonialism, but Máxima wasn’t visiting just as Queen of the Netherlands. The trip is part of her role as the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Financial Security. The Dutch royal website notes that, during the visit, Máxima met “with users of financial services, government representatives, development organizations, financial institutions, and (fintech) companies about policies, financial products, and services that contribute to the financial resilience and well-being of the Indonesian population.”

On Tuesday, Queen Máxima headed to Solo in Central Java to tour a garment factory participating in the Reimagining Industries to Support Equality (RISE) program. She spoke with employees about the program, which has been coordinated with several major international clothing brands with the aim of contributing to the financial well-being of workers in the garment and footwear industry.

She also visited an authentic batik factory and even tried her hand at some of the traditional techniques used by the workers making the fabric. Clearly Máxima’s attempt earned the enthusiastic approval of this artist!

For the garment-focused first day of the program, Máxima wore a bright yellow blouse and trousers with a matching handbag and shoes. (I know it will shock you, but the trousers, and possibly the blouse as well, come from Natan.) Her statement earrings, beaded yellow hoops that have been in her jewelry box for many years, also coordinated with the banana-hued theme.

Máxima received a scarf and a flower necklace on her arrival at the factory, which added some helpful depth to the outfit. She also wore a trio of interesting bangles on her right wrist. The beads at the end of each bangle appear to be made of polished wood.

She also wore a delicate gold charm bracelet on her left wrist, along with her iconic Cartier Tank watch. She also wore her engagement ring and wedding band on her left hand.
