The Dutch royal family owns an enviable collection of sapphire jewels, and Queen Máxima recently brought out a mix of personal and heirloom jewels set with gemstone for a special meal in Scheveningen.

On Wednesday, Queen Máxima headed to the seaside resort town of Scheveningen, where she attended an iftar gathering at the Grand Hotel Kurhaus. The gathering, which took place on the eighth day of this year’s Ramadan observance, was hosted by MKB Den Haag, an organization that promotes the interests of small and medium-sized businesses in The Hague.

For the occasion, Máxima looked particularly regal in a navy blue top and skirt from Natan, paired with a coordinating clutch bag (also from Natan, per UFO No More) and navy heels.

The big feathery accessory pinned to Máxima’s top is also from Natan, and it’s a detachable “brooch” rather than a permanent embellishment on the garment. Natan calls it the “Dora Brooch.” We’ve seen Máxima wear it on another Natan top as well.

For the iftar gathering, Máxima also wore several bejeweled accessories, including a special pair of earring with sapphire and diamond cluster studs and sapphire drops. The earrings were made in the 1960s using gemstones taken from a dismantled tiara that belonged to Queen Wilhelmina.

The earrings can be worn in both longer and shorter settings. Queen Máxima memorably wore the longer setting of the earrings for her husband’s inauguration in April 2013.

Máxima finished off the look with her diamond and sapphire tennis bracelet (part of a set of three that also includes a ruby bracelet and an emerald bracelet) and her diamond and tanzanite ring. Her engagement and wedding rings sparkled on her left hand.

If the combination of jewels—earrings, bracelet, ring, and even that Natan feather brooch—looks familiar, that’s because Máxima wore the same pieces back in December with a different Natan ensemble for the filming of the annual Christmas Music Gala. Which appearance do you think was the more successful outing for the jewels?
