He’s growing up so fast! Prince George of Wales was accompanied by his parents as he arrived to begin his studies at Eton on Tuesday, and his proud mother wore classic jewelry pieces—and her famous engagement ring—for her son’s first day.
It’s been a week of milestones in the extended European royal family. Before heading to Norway for Wednesday’s state funeral, the Prince of Wales was able to join his wife and son as Prince George arrived for his first day at Eton College in Windsor. Here, the family greets the school’s provost, Nicholas Coleridge, and its headmaster, Simon Henderson.
For the family’s rainy arrival, Princess Catherine wore an emerald green dress from a favorite designer, Emilia Wickstead. It’s the same dress she wore as she and Prince William welcomed Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel of Sweden to Windsor Castle in November 2023.
Kate accessorized with favorite pieces from her personal jewelry collection. She wore her favorite Trinity Earrings from Cartier, which we’ve seen her pair with numerous outfits in recent years. This year alone, she’s worn on six separate occasions, including her first official meeting with the new Archbishop of Canterbury.
With the Cartier earrings, Catherine wore a gold-plated chain link necklace. It’s the Portrait style from Laura Lombardi, and it’s been in Kate’s jewelry box since 2022.
The Princess finished off her jewelry look with her usual stack of rings—engagement ring, wedding band, and two eternity rings—on her left hand. Notably, this is the second time that the famed sapphire and diamond engagement ring has witnessed a future monarch enrolling at Eton. In this photograph, you’ll spot the ring on Diana’s finger as Prince William signs in for his first day at Eton three decades ago.
Thirteen-year-old Prince George arrived at Eton in his “home clothes,” but soon he changed into his new school uniform and posed for an official portrait. A set of three images were released by Kensington Palace to mark the occasion. Like his father before him, George will be able to stay close to family nearby during his time at the school. While he was at Eton, Prince William famously headed over to Windsor Castle on Sundays to have tea with his grandparents. King Charles III will surely be keen to replicate that tradition with his own grandson soon.
