There was one more sparkling moment from last week’s Dutch-Finnish state visit that’s worth enjoying: Queen Máxima’s outing last Friday in a set of fabulous jewels set with diamonds and black pearls.

On the second day of the Finnish state visit to the Netherlands, Queen Mxima and Suzanne Innes-Stubb headed to Rijswijk for a presentation and discussion focused on the problem of domestic violence against women.
President Stubb and Ms. Innes-Stubb were also the guests of honor at a government luncheon given by Prime Minister Schoof at Duivenvoorde Castle in Voorschoten. The King and Queen were also present for the luncheon. Duivenvoorde Castle is an interesting venue: a private noble residence for centuries, it is now owned by a foundation that operates part of the building as a museum.

For the second day of the state visit program, Queen Máxima wore a favorite combination of gray and green pieces, including a green dress and a gray cape, both from Natan.

Máxima likes to wear diamonds and black pearls with this outfit, mixing together modern black pearl pieces with jewels from the family vaults. Her earrings, which feature large black pearls surrounded by diamond-studded petals, are some of the newer parts of the married set.

The brooch that Máxima wore pinned to her dress is, I believe, one of the heirloom pieces from the collection. It features a large black pearl surrounded by a cluster of diamonds and more black pearls, with a black pearl and diamond pendant.

Here’s another look at the brooch that highlights the size of the diamonds set in the cluster portion of the brooch, which I believe can be worn with or without the pendant.

The cluster brooch has a matching bangle bracelet that also features a black pearl and diamond cluster. Máxima wore it on her right wrist for the luncheon.

She also wore her modern black pearl and diamond ring on her right hand. This close-up photograph from the luncheon shows the details of both the ring and the bracelet quite nicely.

We recently saw Máxima wear the brooch, the bracelet, and the ring for another important occasion: Prinsjesdag, the annual opening of the Dutch parliament, in September. On that occasion she wore another pair of diamond and black pearl earrings. On the back of her dress, she also used Queen Wilhelmina’s black pearl pin brooch to secure the back of her order sash.
