On Friday, the Queen of Sweden made a gleaming appearance in a modern twist on a classic earring design at a Swedish concert hall.

King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden arrived at Berwaldhallen, a concert hall in Stockholm’s Östermalm district, for a special celebration of a national institution. Sveriges Radio was officially founded in March 1924, with its first broadcast taking place on January 1, 1925. Friday’s concert marked the company’s 100th anniversary year, and the royal couple were greeted on their arrival by Sveriges Radio’s CEO, Cilla Benkö, and Johan Sidenmark, the chairman of the board.

For the occasion, the King and Queen wore black-tie gala attire, with the King in a tuxedo and the Queen in a metallic evening ensemble.

Silvia reached into her closet for a golden satin gown and a coordinating jacket with a modern square pattern in metallic thread. Even more sparkle was added via her glittering Jimmy Choo clutch bag.

But, of course, the jewelry was for me the most interesting part of her ensemble. Silvia mixed and matched different metals and coordinating tones with the outfit, wearing a pair of silver tassel earrings, a necklace of multicolored pearls, a modern brooch that appears to be made of mother-of-pearl, silver, and gold, and a stack of bracelets.

This angle offers an excellent view of the fascinating brooch, the pearls, and the tassel earrings. The earrings are modern pieces from Oscar de la Renta.

Here’s a close-up view of the earrings from the designer. They’re fascinating pieces that use strands of silver chain to replicate the traditional gemstone tassel motif used in Indian jewelry.

The earrings have been in Silvia’s collection for a few years. One of her most prominent previous outings in the earrings came at the award ceremony for the Polar Music Prize in 2022.

Here’s another look at the earrings from Friday’s concert appearance, as well as a profile view of the brooch and another glimpse of the pearls.

And, of course, Silvia added a stack of bracelets, including two strung with colorful plastic beads. These are fundraiser bracelets for her children’s charity, the World Childhood Foundation.
