Queen Máxima has been in India this week as part of her role with the United Nations, and on Wednesday, she stepped out in a pair of colorful earrings that has been a mainstay in her jewelry box for years.

Queen Máxima arrived in Mumbai on Wednesday for events linked to her role as the UN Secretary General’s Special Advocate for Financial Health. (Before she was a royal, Máxima earned an economics degree and worked for several financial institutions.) She chose a linen dress from her wardrobe archive for the occasion, paired with an ivory pashmina and brown accessories.

Later in the day, she clipped up her hair—it was warm and extremely humid in Mumbai on Wednesday—and swapped out her pashmina for a light brown one, matching a different color from the dress’s pattern. We’ve seen Máxima wear this dress previously, including an outing in India in 2022, when she made a visit to the Amrapali Jewels boutique in Jaipur. (She owns at least one pair of earrings from the brand.)

For Wednesday’s sessions in Mumbai, Máxima wore another pair of favorite earrings from her jewelry box. These are set with semi-precious gems in shades of blue, pink, and yellow.

The earrings have been in Máxima’s collection for more than two decades. Here’s a fitting throwback: the then-Princess Máxima wearing the earrings to watch Argentina and the Netherlands play in a World Cup match in Germany in 2006.

She’s worn them on numerous occasions over the past twenty-plus years. One of the most memorable for me came in 2019, when she wore them on Garter Day in Windsor.

Here’s one more look at Máxima wearing the earrings in Mumbai this week. The blue and yellow gems in the earrings echo the colors in her dress’s pattern beautifully.

As usual, Máxima finished off the look with rings and bracelets. She wore her engagement and wedding rings on her left hand. She added a white woven bracelet on her right wrist and stacked gold bracelets with her watch on her left, including a bracelet featuring the names of her daughters.
