The British royals were out and about at a garden party at Buckingham Palace yesterday, with the Princess of Wales wearing a very special pair of earrings for the occasion.

The Prince and Princess of Wales hosted Tuesday’s garden party at the palace, assisted by the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, Princess Eugenie, and Zara Tindall.

For the event, Princess Catherine reached into her wardrobe archives, selecting a yellow Emilia Wickstead dress that she previously wore at St. Paul’s Cathedral during the Platinum Jubilee celebrations in the summer of 2022. She paired it with a Philip Treacy hat that she previously wore at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s wedding in 2018 and at Trooping the Colour in 2019.

Kate wore a special pair of diamond earrings with the outfit. These diamond earrings, which feature tiny pavé-set acorns in a pear-shaped frame, are the same ones that she wore on her wedding day in April 2011.

The earrings were made by Robinson Pelham, and the acorns are a reference to her father’s coat of arms. Kate’s only worn the earrings on a handful of occasions over the years, and it’s wonderful to see her bring them out again.

Prince William also included a small bejeweled touch in his garden party ensemble: a little tie pin with links to his royal ancestors.

Here’s a closer look at the tie pin. It features a royal cypher—that of his great-grandfather, King George VI, I believe—surrounded by the Garter. Lots of the Windsor men wear George VI tie pins, and I have a sneaking suspicion that the Queen Mother may have been involved in distributing them.

I wasn’t able to get a good look at the tie pin worn by the Duke of Edinburgh, but we did get this excellent view of the floral dress with crystal neckline embellishment worn by his Duchess. Sophie accessorized with a pair of leafy pendant earrings from her jewelry box.

The Duchess of Gloucester retained her title as the Most Elegant British Royal Lady at Tuesday’s garden party, wearing diamond and pearl drop earrings and a row of pearls with a blue coat. She also added another bejeweled touch: one of her rock crystal and diamond circle brooches, worn as a “button” on the coat.

There were also two delightful garden party appearances from the Prince of Wales’s cousins on Tuesday. Here’s Princess Eugenie, wearing classic polka dots with a substantial new pair of earrings.

UFO No More shares that the earrings are the Lotus Flower Sapphire and Diamond Drop Earrings from Garrard. They’re made of 18-carat white gold and set with “ombré sapphires seamlessly fading into diamonds.” They retail on the Garrard website for £16,250.

Also greeting guests at the garden party was Zara Tindall, the Princess Royal’s daughter. She wore a floral dress with a pair of earrings from one of her go-to brands, Calleija. (Zara has her own line with the company, Zara Tindall by Calleija.)

Here’s a closer look at the earrings, which come from the company’s Sidra collection. Made of 18-carat rose gold and white gold, the earrings are set with white diamonds. Each earring also has a teeny .05-carat pink diamond set in the center of the design. These are Argyle Pink Diamonds, sourced from the now-closed Argyle Diamond Mine in Western Australia. The earrings retail on the company’s website for £8,400.
