Happy National Day to the people of Belgium! To celebrate, our Sparkling Spotlight today is shining on a particularly glamorous gala appearance by Queen Mathilde.

The Grimaldis gathered in Monaco on Friday for the return of a major annual event: the Red Cross Gala! This year’s version came with a new outdoor twist—but still included plenty of sparkle.

In the 1960s, Princess Paola of Belgium was one of the most glamorous and gorgeous royals in Europe. The future queen consort made an especially chic appearance at a ball in 1965, wearing a tiara with major royal roots.
