Our week-long tiara tribute to royal ladies with August birthdays wraps up today with a look at a magnificent gala appearance by Queen Rania of Jordan at her son’s royal wedding in 2023.

On June 1, 2023, Crown Prince Hussein of Jordan married Rajwa Al Saif in Amman. Their wedding was followed by a day of festivities, culminating in a grand white-tie banquet and reception at Al Husseiniya Palace.

Princess Rajwa changed into a Dolce & Gabbana ballgown for the reception, paired with the same diamond tiara and earrings that she’d worn for the wedding ceremony earlier in the day. Meanwhile, Rania changed into a cream-colored ballgown from Elie Saab. The dress was inspired by traditional gowns worn in Thailand.

Rania, shown here greeting the Prince and Princess of Wales ahead of the banquet, also wore the dark red sash and gold badge of Jordan’s Order of Al-Hussein bin Ali with the dress.

Her jewelry was, given the context, fairly simple, allowing the beadwork on the dress to really shine. Her tiara, a modern scroll design featuring the prayer “Allah is great” in Arabic lettering, was made by Yan Sicard for FRED in 2005. At some point after the tiara’s debut, the top line of the piece was lowered slightly to give it a rounder, more kokoshnik-like effect.

Rania also wore diamond earrings and a diamond-studded crown brooch with the outfit, plus diamond rings on both hands.

This birthday is a particularly joyous one for the entire Jordanian royal family, because another Rania has joined their ranks, along with her sister. The King and Queen’s elder daughter, Princess Iman, gave birth to twin daughters last Friday. The babies, shown here in the arms of their royal grandparents, were given the names Talia and Rania.

And that’s it for this week of sparkle at The Court Jeweller.
