I’m continuing my recap of some of the gala moments we missed during the busy days of last week, and this time, we’ll be chatting about a gleaming golden appearance by the Queen of Spain in Madrid.
King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain were in Madrid on June 16 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the newspaper El Confidencial. During the ceremony they also presented the paper’s investigative journalism awards. Above, they’re pictured with Mexican reporter Carmen Aristegui, leader of the Aristegui Noticias journalist team, winners of the International Award for the Televisa Leaks investigation.
For the anniversary celebration and awards presentation, Queen Letizia was elegant in black and gold. She wore a favorite Dries Van Noten dress from her wardrobe archive, paired with a gold handbag and shoes that echo the dress’s gold metallic floral accents.
The dress also features sparkling accents of its own, courtesy of the sequin detailing that peeks out at the wearer’s shoulders. But Letizia added even more gold with her choice of jewelry, wearing big gold floral statement earrings with the ensemble.
The earrings come from Carolina Herrera’s collection of jasmine-themed jewelry. The earrings are gold plated and feature small crystal accents.
As always, there was one final accessory to finish off Letizia’s look: her Coreterno ring, which has been a fixture on the index finger of her left hand since the early days of 2023.
