The Windsors gathered in Gloucestershire this afternoon for the wedding of Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling, who sparkled in a fascinating tiara for the ceremony.

Peter Phillips, the only son of the Princess Royal and the eldest grandchild of the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, announced his engagement to NHS nurse Harriet Sperling last August. The pair made their first public appearance as a couple in 2024 at the Badminton Horse Trials, and in August of last year, they announced that Peter had proposed.

Peter offered Harriet a diamond engagement ring reminiscent of the one that his grandfather gave to his grandmother in 1947. Indeed, the ring was made by Pragnell, the Mayfair-based jewelry firm that owns the archives of Philip Antrobus, who made Queen Elizabeth II’s ring.

On Saturday, Harriet arrived for the couple’s wedding ceremony at All Saints’ Church in Kemble with a special trio of bridesmaids: her daughter, Georgia Sperling, and Peter Phillips’s daughters, Savannah and Isla. The bride and bridesmaids all wore dresses designed by Emilia Wickstead.
Wickstead offered an exclusive look into the design process to Vogue. The article notes, “The elegant gown – the result of months of planning and hundreds of hours of handwork – was constructed using a trio of different elements: a square-neck column underdress, a delicate lace overjacket fitted above the waist, and the pièce de résistance, a head-turning three-metre train.”

Harriet accessorized with jewels from the same firm, Pragnell, that designed her engagement ring. She borrowed the Pragnell Tiara from the family-run house, pairing it with diamond and pearl earrings that also come from the same jeweler.

Here’s a closer look at the delicate diamond and pearl tiara. The firm showcases the piece on their website with a lengthy description: “This intricate tiara dazzles the eye by showcasing a design typical of both the Edwardian and Deco periods – which is very rare in all jewellery. Diamonds highlight a festoon of glittering laurel leaves and articulated floral motifs, bearing great resemblance to the tiara owned by The Princess Royal, in the official photograph celebrating her fiftieth birthday in 2000. Favoured as a bridal headpiece and owned by the Pragnell family, this delicate tiara has been worn by generations of Pragnell family members and was present at the Coronation of both King George VI and Queen Elizabeth II.”

Here’s another look at Harriet wearing the tiara and earrings after the ceremony, with her veil pulled back from her face.

The groom’s mother, Princess Anne, arrived for the ceremony in a floral dress with a yellow jacket. Remarkably, the hat she wore for the wedding is the same one that she wore for the baptism of her daughter, Zara, in the summer of 1981.

Her accessories for the occasion were simple: pearl drop earrings and a three-row necklace of small pearls, all from her personal collection.

Peter’s sister, Zara Tindall, wore a periwinkle blue dress for the ceremony, paired with silver shoes and a matching handbag. Zara previously wore the same dress for a dinner last autumn.

She wore earrings with silver floral studs and blue drops with the dress for the wedding. (Laurence Coste, maybe?)

Queen Camilla wore a buttercream yellow coat and dress with scalloped detailing for her nephew’s wedding ceremony.

Her accessories included the diamond and yellow gold earrings that she wore for her coronation ceremony in 2023, plus two Cosmos brooches from her collection of Van Cleef & Arpels pieces.

The Princess of Wales arrived for the wedding wearing a blush-colored boucle dress from Roland Mouret, paired with a hat from Jane Taylor London.

Her jewels for the occasion were a mix of personal and heirloom pieces. She wore diamond and morganite earrings from Kiki McDonough, previously worn for another special wedding: her sister Pippa’s nuptials in the spring of 2017. The three-row pearl bracelet she wore on her right wrist is a legacy from her mother-in-law, Diana, Princess of Wales.

The Duchess of Edinburgh wore a favorite blue dress from Beulah London for the ceremony, paired with a blue hat and shoes and a summery Sophie Habsburg handbag.

She reached into her collection of blue gemstone jewelry for the occasion, wearing floral earrings set with bright blue stones and a necklace featuring a light blue gemstone pendant ringed with diamonds.

Peter’s cousins, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, were also present for the ceremony with their spouses. Beatrice repeated an Emilia Wickstead dress previously worn for Royal Ascot, pairing it with bow-shaped earrings, while Eugenie opted for a navy blue dress, coat, and hat.
The late Princess Margaret’s family was well represented at the wedding, too. Lady Sarah Chatto was elegant as always in a black and white ensemble with her mother’s diamond and pearl drop earrings, which she also wore on her own wedding day.
And the Earl of Snowdon was joined by his partner, Isabelle de la Bruyère, who wore blush pink with an interesting pair of statement earrings for the occasion.

Here’s one more look at the happy couple after their wedding ceremony today. I know some will be wondering, and I think Peter’s tie pin features Prince of Wales feathers. Perhaps a present from his godfather, King Charles III, from his years as Prince of Wales?
