It was a royal night out at the BAFTAs on Sunday, with the Prince and Princess of Wales hitting the red carpet with Queen Elizabeth II’s antique diamonds in tow.

Prince William and Princess Catherine were two of the guests of honor at this weekend’s British Academy Film Awards ceremony, which was held at the Royal Festival Hall in London. The two are regular attendees at this event, because William has served as the BAFTA president since 2010, but this was their first joint appearance at the ceremony since 2023.

For the occasion, Kate re-wore a glamorous rose pink Gucci evening gown from her wardrobe archives. We previously saw her wear the dress, paired with morganite earrings from Kiki McDonough, at the Victoria & Albert Museum in February 2019. The gown has a velvet belt, and William coordinated by wearing a burgundy velvet tuxedo jacket for the ceremony.

This time around, Kate accessorized with royal diamonds, wearing a pair of delicate Art Deco chandelier earrings that belonged to the late Queen Elizabeth II.

The earrings were commissioned from Cartier by Dame Margaret Greville in 1918, and she had them remodeled several times through the 1920s. The resulting pair of earrings, according to the Royal Collection Trust, is “a lexicon of modern diamond cuts.” These include a trio of pear-shaped diamond pendants, plus diamonds in baguette, baton, emerald, half-moon, trapeze, and square cuts.

Mrs. Greville left a treasure trove of jewelry, including the earrings, to Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother in 1942. The Queen Mum, in turn, gave the earrings to her elder daughter, Queen Elizabeth II, as a wedding present in 1947. Princess Catherine began wearing the earrings in 2023, and she made a notable recent appearance in the jewels at the Royal Variety Performance in November 2025.

At Sunday evening’s awards ceremony, Kate also wore the same diamond bracelet that she wore for the Royal Variety Performance back in November: a converted diamond choker necklace that originally belonged to Queen Mary.

Here’s a portrait of Queen Mary wearing the bracelet as part of a choker necklace in the 1930s. The jewel has a geometric, Art Deco-style design that makes it an excellent companion to the Greville Chandelier Earrings. Later, the bracelet became a favorite of the Queen Mother.

The late Queen first loaned the bracelet to Catherine more than a decade ago, and she’s worn it for prominent public moments like the Chinese state banquet in 2015.

Catherine stacked together four rings on her left hand to complete the look: her iconic sapphire and diamond engagement ring, paired with her gold wedding band, her diamond eternity band, and her newer sapphire and diamond eternity ring.
