Our whirlwind of new year reception jewels has landed us in Amsterdam, where the Queen of the Netherlands wore fabulous emeralds and a spectacular flower brooch to host the diplomatic corps.

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands arrived at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam on Monday ahead of a reception for the diplomatic corps. The King wore morning dress for the occasion, while Queen Máxima wore a favorite emerald green dress (Natan, per Josine Droogendijk) with a royal blue coat and green accessories.

Máxima echoed the emerald color of her dress with her choice of earrings for the reception. She wore pear-shaped emerald and diamond cluster earrings from her personal collection. These can be worn alone or as part of a pair of longer emerald and diamond earrings.

Beneath her coat, you’ll also be able to spot a fabulous floral brooch that recently made its debut as part of Queen Máxima’s jewelry collection: the dogwood brooch from Luz Camino.

The naturalistic brooch is made to resemble a spray of Philadelphus coronarius, better known as English dogwood or sweet mock orange. It features diamonds, tsavorites, and chrome diopside stones set with enamel and white resin.

We first saw Máxima wear the brooch back in October, when she opened the new global headquarters of Royal Philips in Amsterdam. On that occasion, she paired the brooch with a lighter green dress.

We also got one more bejeweled glimpse as Máxima headed inside for the diplomatic corps reception. On her right wrist, she wore several stacked bracelets, including the bracelet featuring her family’s initials set with diamonds. You’ll also spot a white string around her forearm in this image, which I believe is designed to help her wear her coat securely without putting her arms through her sleeves. Fashion!
