Prince William and Princess Catherine joined King Charles and Queen Camilla on Sunday for a service at Crathie Church near the Balmoral estate in Scotland. The couple were snapped by photographers as they drove to the service, marking Kate’s first public appearance since announcing the completion of her recent cancer treatment. Notably, Kate also returned to work in a private capacity this week. The Court Circular recorded her attendance at an Early Years project meeting at Windsor Castle on Tuesday afternoon.
For the church service in Scotland this weekend, Kate wore a pair of earrings that have been mainstays in her personal jewelry collection since before her marriage. These are the Temple of Heaven earrings from Cassandra Goad. The modern girandole-style earrings are made of yellow gold. The designer took inspiration from design details on the roof of the famed Temple of Heaven in Beijing.
Princess Catherine has been wearing the earrings since the days when she was still Kate Middleton back in the spring of 2010. We saw them frequently in the earliest years of her royal marriage, including appearances during her 2011 visit to Los Angeles and Zara and Mike Tindall’s wedding celebrations the same summer. Above, she wears the earrings at the Imperial War Museum in 2012.
Here, Kate wears the earrings for a reception highlighting the Dramatic Arts at Buckingham Palace in February 2014.
And here, in November 2014, she pairs the earrings with a polka-dotted dress for the Place2Be Awards ceremony at Kensington Palace.
Kate also wore the earrings on several occasions during the couple’s royal tour of India and Bhutan in 2016. Here, she wears the girandoles as she and William visit a memorial at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Mumbai.
And here, she wears the earrings with a white dress as she and William lay wreaths at India Gate in Delhi the following day.
She also wore the earrings with another white ensemble for the reopening of Hintze Hall at the Natural History Museum in London in July 2017.
The Balmoral outing is actually the second time we’ve seen Kate wear a pair of Cassandra Goad earrings this year. She also reached for the brand’s Cavolfiore Pearl Earrings for Trooping the Colour back in June.
