December 1968: During the Nobel Prize celebrations, Princess Christina pairs the Diamond Four-Button Tiara with the earrings and large necklace from the Napoleonic Amethyst Parure. About a decade later, Christina’s sister-in-law, Queen Silvia, would have the necklace set on a tiara frame to make the amethyst set a more complete parure.

June 1974: For her wedding to Tord Magnuson, Princess Christina wears the Connaught Diamond Tiara. The choice was a sentimental one—Christina wore the tiara to honor her late mother, Princess Sibylla, who died of cancer in 1972. The tiara was Sibylla’s favorite, and it’s still a much-treasured piece in the Swedish royal family today because of its association with the late princess.

She’s pictured here with her sister, Princess Désirée (wearing Queen Louise’s Diamond Tiara), and her niece, Crown Princess Victoria. This was Victoria’s very first formal gala event!
