We’re surveying tiaras worn by Dutch princesses this week, and there’s one we can’t fail to highlight: the Ruby Peacock Tiara, worn early and often in the 1950s by Princess Irene of the Netherlands.

Lately, we’ve been deprived of a few glittering tiara occasions in Europe, thanks to changing health regulations. I thought we deserved another good old-fashioned tiara flashback today, looking back at a glittering gala dinner in Spain held 12 years ago today.

The Princess of Orange, who turned 18 last week, will likely be making her first tiara appearance sometime in the next several months. Many have suggested that she should borrow the tiara first worn by her grandmother, Princess Beatrix. Today, I’ve got a look at one of Beatrix’s earliest appearances in the tiara, which took place during a state visit.
