Our catch-up with recent bejeweled moments continues today with a look at the playful jewels worn for Princess Isabella’s graduation celebrations in Copenhagen last week.

The King and Queen of Denmark and all of their children were on hand to celebrate the high school graduation of Princess Isabella in Copenhagen on June 23. Like most graduations, there were several events to mark the transition. Last Tuesday, King Frederik X and Queen Mary were joined by Crown Prince Christian, Prince Vincent, and Prince Josephine to celebrate the end of Princess Isabella’s exams, after which she received the traditional studenterhue.

The caps are an important part of the milestone celebrations for Danish students finishing gymnasium, their equivalent of high school. Princess Isabella coordinated her outfit with the colors of her new cap, wearing a red tank with a white midi skirt.

She also wore the kind of exuberant layered gold jewelry so popular with girls of her generation, including gold hoop earrings, a necklace with a P charm (for princess, I think?), a colorful woven bracelet, and a Cartier bracelet and ring.

Each studenterhue features personalized embroidery. The name of Isabella’s school is embroidered on white on her cap, and her first two names, Isabella Henrietta, are featured in gold on the red band.

It’s tradition in Denmark for a particularly special family member or friend to present the graduate with the studenterhue. Crown Prince Christian was the one who got to give the cap to his younger sister.

Queen Mary was polished but casual for the event, wearing an embroidered blouse with a denim skirt for the occasion, paired with gold hoop earrings and stacked bracelets on both wrists.

Later, the family celebrated the graduate princess at a luncheon held at the Chancellery House, the King and Queen’s summer residence at Fredensborg Palace. Delightfully, Isabella’s grandmother, Queen Margrethe, was able to attend, looking sunny in a yellow outfit paired with her signature daisy jewelry. It’s particularly nice to see the retired monarch out and about after her recent health challenges.
