Let’s head into the weekend on a blingy note, shall we? On Wednesday, Queen Máxima of the Netherlands attended an event in The Hague, and she brought along some very sparkly accessories for the occasion.

Queen Máxima was on hand at Noordeinde Palace in The Hague on Wednesday for the official launch of the Financially Healthy Netherlands Foundation. The new foundation was created by merging two existing organizations, the SchuldenlabNL Foundation and the National Coalition for Financial Health. Queen Máxima, who has a background in finance, is the honorary chair of the new foundation.

For the foundation launch, Máxima wore businesslike neutrals. Her trouser suit, per UFO No More, comes from the go-to Benelux couturier, Natan.

Her accessories were the statement-making component of the ensemble: a Chanel handbag, plus a pair of enormous crystal brooches and coordinating earrings.

The floral brooches feature large crystals in a variety of shapes, in shades of white, gray, light yellow, and dark blue. Her earrings, pear-shaped dark blue crystals, appear to be part of a matching set.

ModeKoninginMaxima reminds us that the set has been in Máxima’s jewelry box since at least 2019. That October, she wore the brooches and the earrings for a mental health conference in Amsterdam.

Because Máxima is Máxima, she also wore several bracelets for the occasion, including her gold cabochon gemstone bracelet, which is engraved with the names of her husband and children, and a diamond-tipped bangle. The whole look is remarkable restrained for Máx, with the exception of those big crystal jewels. What do you think: do they add the right amount of royal panache to the outfit, or are they a little too much?
