On Tuesday, the King and Queen of Spain hosted world leaders at the Royal Palace in Madrid, and Queen Letizia brought out some of the most important diamonds in her jewelry box for the occasion.

King Felipe and Queen Letizia hosted a dinner at the Royal Palace in Madrid for members attending this week’s NATO Summit. Heads of state and government and leaders of international organizations joined the royals for the dinner.

Queen Letizia wore a chic black ensemble for the occasion. Queen Letizia Style identifies the dress as a taffeta midi from 2nd Skin Co.

Letizia previously wore the same dress for the Princess of Asturias Awards in October 2021.

Just as she did for last year’s awards ceremony, Letizia wore jewels from the joyas de pasar collection with the dress. The impressive diamond cluster earrings caught the light as she posed for official photographs before the dinner.

The earrings, along with all of the joyas de pasar, originally belonged to King Felipe’s great-grandmother, Queen Ena. She wears the earrings in the 1922 portrait above, along with her Fleur-de-Lis Tiara, diamond collet necklace, and her emerald and diamond necklace.

The joyas de pasar pass from monarch to monarch in Spain, to be used by queens regnant or queens consort. Here, in June 2014, Queen Sofia wears the earrings with the Fleur-de-Lis Tiara and the diamond necklace for a state banquet in honor of the President of Mexico.

Queen Letizia has worn the earrings often since King Felipe ascended to the throne. Here, she wears them for a reception during the Israeli state visit to Madrid in November 2017.

For Tuesday night’s dinner, Letizia also wore one of the diamond bracelets from the joyas de pasar collection.

The pair of diamond bracelets also belonged to Queen Ena, and they’ve also been passed down through the generations. Here, Queen Sofia wears the bracelets, one on each wrist, at the wedding of Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark in May 2004. She’s also wearing the diamond earrings and diamond necklace from the joyas collection, plus Queen Ena’s Pearl and Diamond Tiara.

The bracelets have also become favorites of Letizia’s in recent years. Above, she wears both bracelets on her left arm for a reception in Valencia in November 2018. She’s also wearing her de Grisogono black diamond earrings.

Queen Letizia finished off her ensemble on Tuesday evening with an accessory that has become one of her constant companions: her Karen Hallam oval ring, worn on the index finger of her left hand.
