Last week was full of film-related engagements for Queen Camilla, starting with a special screening of Hamnet. For the occasion, she brought out a special diamond necklace that has been in her jewelry box for nearly thirty years.

Queen Camilla arrived at the May Fair Hotel in central London on Tuesday for a special screening of the film Hamnet, hosted by the Queen’s Reading Room. She was accompanied by Vicki Perrin, CEO of the Queen’s Reading Room, for the screening.
The film, which has been nominated for eight Academy Awards, is based on the novel by Maggie O’Farrell, who also co-wrote the script for the film. O’Farrell, who is from Northern Ireland, was present for the reception, as were cast members, producers, the costume designer, and the casting director who all worked on the movie. The book and the film dramatize the story of the death of Hamnet, William and Agnes Shakespeare’s young son, and the playwright’s production of Hamlet in the wake of the family tragedy.

Here, O’Farrell looks on in the background as representatives from the film greet the Queen. For the screening, Camilla wore a black dress with circular sequin embellishments and coordinating black accessories.

Her jewels for the occasion were made of yellow gold and set with diamonds. Here, you get a good glimpse of her earrings: the diamond earrings she most notably wore for her coronation at Westminster Abbey in the spring of 2023.

The yellow gold and diamond clip earrings were part of Camilla’s jewelry collection before the coronation, and she’s worn them for a variety of events since then, but their appearance during the ceremony is still their most significant appearance to date.

With the earrings, Camilla wore her ever-present gold pendant, engraved with the initials of her grandchildren, layered with a diamond and yellow gold flower necklace that has been part of her jewelry collection since the 1990s.

Camilla was first photographed wearing the necklace nearly thirty years ago. She arrived wearing the necklace for the 50th birthday party given for her by Charles, then Prince of Wales, at Highgrove House in July 1997. It’s been said that the necklace was her birthday gift that year from Charles.

Camilla has worn the diamond flower necklace occasionally in the three decades since that birthday party. Here, she wears the necklace for a dinner at Clarence House in 2003.

We’ve also seen her wear the necklace in recent years. It was tucked inside the collar of her robes at the Order of the Thistle service in Edinburgh in July 2024.

The film screening, though, is Camilla’s most prominent outing in the necklace to date. She also added a few more jewelry accessories, including bracelets on both wrists. The diamond tennis-style bracelet on her left wrist is the most substantial of the selection.
