This weekend, the Spanish royal family marked the country’s National Day in Madrid, with Queen Letizia wearing a bright pair of earrings set with emeralds.

On Sunday, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain were joined by their daughters, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia, as they celebrated National Day. They began the day by attending the annual military parade at the Plaza de Neptuno in Madrid. Both Felipe and Leonor were in uniform for the event.

Later, the family headed inside the Royal Palace for a traditional National Day reception. Princess Leonor decided to wear her uniform again for this part of the festivities, while King Felipe opted for a suit.

Queen Letizia wore an eye-catching ensemble in bright emerald green tweed for the occasion. She paired the dress, with its vintage-inspired silhouette, with black shoes and a black Carolina Herrera handbag.

The emerald theme continued through to Letizia’s earrings for the celebration. These modern pendant earrings, featuring two strands of bright blue-green emeralds, are reportedly custom creations from the brand Tous.

Letizia has worn the earrings on previous occasions, including a memorable appearance at the Retina Eco Awards in Madrid back in September 2023.

As usual, Letizia’s only other jewelry accessory for the day of celebrations was her gold Coreterno ring, worn on the index finger of her left hand.

With her military uniform, Princess Leonor wore just a regulation-appropriate pair of tiny stud earrings, as well as several decorations, including the insignia of the Order of Carlos III and the Order of the Golden Fleece.

The younger of the two Spanish princesses, Infanta Sofia, wore a black-and-white ensemble from Carolina Herrera: a short black dress with white polka dots, worn under a cape-style black coat.

Infanta Sofia’s preferred hairstyle hides her ears, so we’re always left guessing as to whether or not she has decided to start wearing earrings. We live in hope!
