Let’s round out our coverage of this week’s glittering gala events here at TCJ with a look at the sparkling jewels worn by Queen Letizia on Wednesday for a gala dinner in Rome.
King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia headed to Italy this week for a state visit hosted by President Sergio Mattarella. On Wednesday, the royal couple arrived at the Quirinal Palace in Rome for an evening reception. Originally built as a papal residence, the palace was used as the official residence for the Kings of Italy from the late nineteenth century until the middle of the twentieth century. Today, the building serves as the official residence of the Italian president. Here, Felipe and Letizia climb the palace’s Staircase of Honour as they arrive for the dinner.
Inside the palace, the King and Queen were greeted by President Mattarella and his daughter, Laura, who serves as First Lady for her widowed father on ceremonial occasions. She joined her father in Madrid when he made a state visit to Spain in 2021.
Felipe and Letizia both looked elegant as they arrived for the black-tie dinner. As expected, this event was not an occasion during which tiaras were worn.
Instead, Letizia brought extra glamour to the moment with her choice of gown and gala jewels. UFO No More tells us that her black dress comes from Max Mara.
Her jewelry accessories also continued the evening-black theme, as she wore her black and white diamond earrings from De Grisogono. We recently saw her wear the same earrings for this year’s Princess of Asturias awards ceremony. You’ll also spot her Coreterno ring in its usual place on her left hand in this photograph.
But it was Letizia’s bracelets that really packed a major punch with this ensemble. She stacked together both of the diamond bracelets from the joyas de pasar collection on her right wrist for the dinner. The matching bracelets originally belonged to Felipe’s great-grandmother, Queen Ena, who indicated in her will that they should be passed down from monarch to monarch to be used by the Queen of Spain.
