Ten years ago, in September 2013, a royal wedding ceremony was held in Germany. The groom was Prince Felix, son of the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess of Luxembourg, and the bride was his longtime girlfriend, Claire Lademacher. The couple met while both were students at the Collège Alpin International Beau Soleil, an exclusive boarding school in Switzerland. They announced their engagement in December 2012, and their civil wedding ceremony was held in Königstein im Taunus on September 17, 2013. Claire’s father, the software entrepreneur Hartmut Lademacher, owned the Villa Andreae in Königstein at the time.

The civil wedding ceremony took place at the Villa Rothschild, a former private residence that is now a boutique hotel. The mayor of Konigstein, Leonhard Helm, conducted the ceremony in front of the family members of both the bride and the groom.

Afterward, the half-married couple posed for photographers. Claire carried a bouquet of white roses and hydrangeas.

For the civil wedding, Claire wore a white dress with a peplum detail, made by Jan Taminiau, who is notably a favorite fashion designer of Queen Maxima of the Netherlands.

Along with her diamond engagement ring, Claire’s primary accessory was a pair of lovely earrings set with diamonds and her birthstone, the luminous blue-green aquamarine.

Here’s a closer look at one of the earrings. They’re especially vibrant for aquamarines. With only my own eye to trust, I might have guessed that they were blue topazes. But the ladies over at Luxarazzi received press confirmation about the couple’s outfits, and they state that the gems are aquamarines indeed.

Either way, the earrings were a fantastic “something blue” for the bride on the first of her two wedding days.

Felix and Claire left their wedding ceremony in a charming red and white minicar with custom plates. Less than a week later, on September 21, the couple were married again in a Roman Catholic ceremony at the basilica in Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume in the south of France. After their marriage, the couple moved to the Château Les Crostes in nearby Lorgues, where the Lademacher family owns a winery.

In September, Felix and Claire celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary. They’re now the parents of three children: Princess Amalia, who turns ten in June; Prince Liam, who is seven; and Prince Balthasar, who was born in Luxembourg on January 7, 2024.
