Red is definitely Queen Letizia of Spain's color, and over the last few days, she's worn two pairs of earrings set with gorgeous rubies.

For the final engagements in Rabat during the official visit to Morocco, Letizia wore a pair of earrings once worn by her mother-in-law, Queen Sofia.

The earrings, part of a suite of jewels gifted to Queen Sofia by the leaders of Saudi Arabia, feature diamond-studded doves holding ruby wreaths in their beaks. For more, I'll direct you to an earlier post on the earrings, which features closer views.

Letizia wore the same ensemble and jewels for the couple's official departure at the airport. She's started wearing the earrings often on diplomatic visits, which is especially fitting, given the peaceful symbolism of their design.

Back in Spain, Felipe and Letizia headed to Cordoba on Monday for the Bellas Artes Golden Medal Awards at the Palace of Merced.

Letizia reached for another pair of rubies from her own jewelry box, her modern diamond and cabochon ruby drop earrings, for the occasion. The rubies coordinated nicely with the red coat she wore over her black-and-white houndstooth dress...
