State Visit from Mexico: Welcome Ceremony

The bands are massed, the carriages are polished, and the table is set: the Brits are officially welcoming the President and First Lady of Mexico to London. Let's have a look at the jewelry worn during this morning's welcome ceremony, shall we?

To greet her fellow head of state, the Queen wore her usual daytime pearls with the Palm Leaf Brooch, a paisley-shaped diamond piece that was made for the Queen Mother by Cartier in 1938.

The dress underneath HM's jacket featured additional applique detail.

Mexico's first lady is the glamorous Angélica Rivera, who was a singer and actress before marrying her husband. She paired classic pearl and diamond earrings with her ensemble for the official arrival.

Here's a better look at the whole outfit -- so elegant!

The Duchess of Cornwall, who recently visited Mexico with the Prince of Wales, chose her pair of pansy brooches for the event.

Stay tuned for our next post on the evening's state banquet at Buckingham Palace!
