Spring Flowers for the Queen in Dunstable

Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh made a visit to Dunstable on Tuesday, and HM brought a rather sparkly spring floral piece along with her.

This is the diamond daffodil brooch that she debuted a few years ago. Many have speculated that the brooch may have been one of her Diamond Jubilee gifts.

Here's a closer view of the brooch from today's visit. The piece features three yellow daffodil blossoms set on white diamond stems/leaves. The daffodil is one of the national symbols of Wales, and the Queen wore the brooch previously in a portrait commissioned by the Welsh Rugby Union.

The Queen and the Duke made several stops during their visit, but one of the most fun (and highly photographed) was their trip to the elephant centre at a local zoo, where they got to feed Donna the Elephant. Looks like Donna's been practicing her royal wave...
